Shared Territories and Overlaps

2020 FNLC Shared Territories and Overlaps Forum

Thank you to all who joined the 2020 FNLC Shared Territories and Overlaps Forum in the Xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱ w.7mesh (Squamish) and SəliX lwətaʔɬ/Sel.X lwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Territories (Vancouver) or via livestream.

The objective of this meeting was to come together for a solutions-oriented, strategic conversation on shared territories and overlaps to continue the dialogue and build on work started in March 2014. This work is mandated by resolutions passed by the Chiefs at each of the First Nations Summit, Union of BC Indian Chiefs and BC Assembly of First Nations assemblies.

While the evolving situation regarding COVID-19 meant that we were not able to gather for the full three days, it was nonetheless an important springboard for more solutions-oriented dialogue.

The FNLC welcomes you to make submissions on this topic. The original timeline for submissions of March 31 has been extended, and will be re-determined at a later date, after which we will be compiling a proceedings report that will be made available.

We are also determining the possibilities for future meetings. Please send submissions to Colin Braker (cbraker@fns.bc.ca), Jaime Sanchez (jaime.sanchez@bcafn.ca) or Andrea Glickman (andrea@ubcic.bc.ca).

Please submit travel claims and inquiries to Allison Gavin, Conference Coordinator at AllisonG@nautsamawt.com.
