MEETING PURPOSE
The purpose of the All Chiefs Meeting on a proposed West Coast Oil Pipeline (WCOP)  is to facilitate dialogue amongst Chiefs and leadership that are preparing submissions to the MPO and for the FNLC to share tools and resources to support rights holders in their engagement with the MPO in this consultation process.

BACKGROUND
On July 2, 2026, the Province of Alberta shared a submission to the Major Projects Office (MPO) recommending a proposed WCOP for designation as a project of National Interest under the Building Canada Act. The MPO has since contacted 85 "potentially impacted" First Nations in BC of intentions to designate WCOP as a project of national interest and has extended its feedback deadline to September 18th, 2026 from rights holders. The proposed pipeline and its potential national interest designation stands to have far-reaching impacts on many First Nations in BC.

For Nations who did not receive notification letters, you may still reach out to the MPO and/or prepare a submission to the MPO by September 18th, 2026.
