(Lheidli T’enneh Territory, Prince George, BC) – The BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) is deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of respected Elders Josephine Paul and Edith Frederick. As influential matriarchs of the Lheidli T’enneh, their invaluable contributions to Dakelh culture, language and community have left a lasting legacy.

In this time of mourning, BCAFN honours their memory by coming together as a community to offer support to their families and friends. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all whose lives were enriched by Josephine and Edith, and we encourage everyone to share their memories and provide comfort during this difficult time. 

Josephine Paul’s Wake will be held on September 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at 1034 Sewh Rd., Lheidli T’enneh South Side. Her Funeral Service is scheduled for September 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart, 887 Patricia BLVD. *Please note reception is being held at the Ramada Hotel, 444 George St, Prince George. Details regarding Edith Frederick’s Wake and Funeral Service will be announced shortly. 

Together, let us celebrate their lives and continue their important work for the benefit of future generations to come. May they both rest in peace.
