The Province of BC is committed to co-developing the assessment with Indigenous peoples and partners to ensure it aligns with BC. First Nations Climate Strategy and Action Plan and BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. |
The DCRRA virtual sessions will discuss framework development, including the selection of hazards to assess at a provincial scale and the approach to co-development of the provincial and regional assessments going forward. |
Canadian Climate Insititute and the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources have partnered to host a virtual roundtable to highlight the authors' work of three new case studies. Following the Indigenous Perspectives series showing the ongoing work of climate research and policy by Indigenous researchers, Knowledge keepers, water protectors and community members. |
The roundtable discussion seeks to share the authors' insights to strengthen the impact and effectiveness of climate policy and reconciliation moving forward. |
Part 2 of this Climate Data Workshop continues the development of participants for in-depth learning on Lightship platform. FNESS will demonstrate the use of climate change templates, including adaptation tools, environmental impact tracking, and reporting tools. |
Attendees will receive a free Lightship account and may use the tools for their community. Relevant links and guides will be shared with participants for interested Nations. |
If required, FNESS will provide in-person training for First Nations interested. |

In partnership with the IISAAK OLAM Foundation, Vancouver Island University has led the design of Canada's first post-secondary program specializing in planning for Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs). |
This certificate will educate the next generation of planners with the skills, knowledge, and capacity to support the establishment and stewardship of IPCAs in BC. Students will gain a greater understanding of Indigenous approaches to land relationship planning and holistic and integrated approach to stewardship that IPCA represents. |
It includes six distinct and interconnected courses. Course delivery is designed to serve those employed full-time and seeking ways to advance reconciliation, conservation, and planning. |
The British Columbia Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) seeks a motivated, skilled individual to provide policy support to BCAFN's Climate Change and Environment portfolio and coordination support for ongoing climate change projects and engagements. Indigenous communities (bands) can receive free energy-saving products or rebates, alongside training needed to upgrade homes in their community. The funding range per project can be below $100,00 or $100,000-$1,000,000. |
The program offers two streams of funding: - Provides free energy-saving products, salary support and installation training.
- Provides rebates for deeper home energy upgrades such as insulation, air sealing, windows and doors, ventilation, thermostats, heat pumps, water heaters, fridge and freezer replacements.

If you wish to collaborate in the program, the Youth, Art, and Water Initiative offers technical assistance and financial support of up to $50,000 for organizations to engage in social art projects addressing water issues by Indigenous communities and collaborators. |

The Indigenous Climate Monitoring Toolkit was developed to support Indigenous Peoples in Canada with planning, implementing or expanding community-based climate monitoring projects. It provides convenient access to tools, good practices, and examples of community projects. |
